I hate to admit to driving a 'mum's' car but it really is the best car for mums. It's very reliable; the 3 full-sized rear seats are great (can fit 3 boosters); so practical (fits 3 seater ikea ektorp sofa), economical, very comfortable driving position; elevated without having to drive stupid 4x4; lots of grunt (tows the caravan). It's not a convertible but i love it.

A great every-day car that can cope with all our family needs. We've never been prevented from doing anything we wanted to do because of some incapacity of the car. All airport luggage/furniture/bikes/pets/camping gear/garden centre purchases have fitted in it.

It's comfortable on long trips, with lots of room for 'internal' meals if roadtrip weather dictates. It takes all the kids' stuff and still leaves room for shopping. I have recommended it to a friend who then bought one. She says it's the best car she's ever had. I can't think of anything that i need from a car (apart from making me look windswept and 27) that it doesn't provide.

It is so roomy and comfortable. The snubby nose and great visibility make it easy to park. The cubby holes are great for stashing presents (no one looks). I can't recommend it highly enough. The old model citroen picasso that i have owned and driven for 9 years has two sides to it: 1. It's not especially head turning or a thrill to drive.
It's a standard (could be boring) family car that will never burn up the roads But 2. It is superbly practical for a family. It is cheap to run, cheap to insure and cheap to live with. It's reasonably comfortable and easy to drive.

Also, apart from the usual tyres, exhaust, brakes, servicing, i've never ever had a problem with it. It has never cost me a penny more than the usual bills in 9 years of motoring The car looks quite dated now but the new models look fresh and good.
It has been a hard working, practical motor that was perfect for a young and growing family. To sum up: you're never going to be ultra cool or posing in this car, but you will be quite smug as long as you are not a badge or fashion snob. Cheap to buy (especially sh because there are so many around) and run, easy to drive and tardis-like it's a significant improvement over the fiat punto i traded in (it's more spacious, quieter, faster and uses less fuel, possibly it's less fun to chuck about on twisty roads but who buys an mpv for that?) It's a very easy car to live with: more recent models have more style and/or are better to drive but none of them seem to combine practicality with low costs which is why the xsara picasso sold so well. The only really major design flaw is the total absence of a single useful cup-holder - in an mpv this is unforgivable!
