I am trying to connect to a Web 600 controller. I first tried using default user name (honeywell) and password (webs and user all lower case).

I then set up a serial connection and hyper terminal connection and attempted to enter through the serial shell. The instructions were for a Jace controller. Is it different for the WEB-600. I powered down and moved pin config as shown on controller and still nothing.

BTW I can ping the controller so I am connected. The serial shell mode allows connecting a PC using a null modem cable to the RS-232 port on a JACE controller. This can be extremely useful if the IP address is unknown or a Workbench connection cannot be established with the JACE.

Setting up a connection to the QNX shell mode is detailed in the NiagaraAX JACE Install and Startup Guide under the 'recovery tips' section. Connect a null modem from the com port on the PC to the RS-232 port on the JACE Controller. Start hyper terminal and configure the connection speed based on JACE model (JACE-2/6=115200, JACE-4/5=57600).

Position the mode jumper on the JACE to 'serial shell mode', and power cycle the JACE. If telnet is enabled on the JACE, then it is possible to connect to the JACE via a telnet session which provides the same QNX shell access via a TCP/IP connection instead of having to use the null modem cable to the serial port. When I hook directly into the Web 600 I get a sign on and password that accesses the above mentioned screen. I need to get in with an admin password and begin using workbench in order to make a small change and reset a latched local alarm. Can this be done by entering through the serial shell connection?
